Abstract [En]: The article discusses the issue of presidential re-election in the United States of America by surveying the debate within the Constitutional Convention and providing an historical account of the custom abided by from the end of the XVIII to the mid-XX century, analysing the admissibility of the possible interpretative strategies put forward to elude the prohibition enshrined in the XXII amendment with reference to sitting President Donald Trump.
