 La funzione di controllo della House of Commons durante la Brexit e la motion for humble address

Abstract [It]: Il presente contributo si prefigge di ricostruire l'utilizzo dello strumento della motion for humble address da parte dell'opposizione parlamentare all'interno della House of Commons durante alcune fasi decisive della Brexit. Si tenta in particolare di evidenziare come tale meccanismo abbia permesso alla Camera dei Comuni di recuperare importanti spazi per esercitare la propria funzione di scrutiny nei confronti del Governo così da ribadire, anche in forza del riconoscimento operato dalla UK Supreme Court, la perdurante centralità del Parlamento nell'ambito della forma di governo britannica.

 

Title: The scrutiny function of the House of Commons during Brexit and the motion for humble address

Abstract [En]: The paper aims at analyzing the use of the motion for humble address by the parliamentary opposition inside the House of Commons during the crucial phases of the Brexit process.

It is therefore highlighted that the aforementioned instrument made the House of Commons capable to regain some important spaces to exercise its scrutiny power on the Government and affirm, thanks also to the recognition by the UK Supreme Court, the lasting centrality of Parliament within the framework of the british form of government.
