Il ruolo della Procura europea nella tutela degli interessi finanziari dell’Unione europea

Abstract [It]: Il saggio analizza il ruolo cruciale svolto dalla Procura europea (EPPO) nella tutela penale degli interessi finanziari dell’Unione europea, con particolare attenzione alla gestione dei fondi legati al programma Next Generation EU. L’istituzione dell’EPPO ha consentito di superare la frammentazione delle azioni repressive a livello nazionale, rivelandosi uno strumento particolarmente efficace contro le frodi transfrontaliere complesse. Lo scritto si sofferma sulla sinergia sviluppata con le Autorità nazionali – in particolare la Procura generale della Corte dei conti italiana – concentrandosi sulla possibilità di indagini coordinate e sulla problematica del recupero effettivo delle somme sottratte al bilancio dell’Unione europea.

Title: The role of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office in protecting the financial interests of the European Union

Abstract [En]: The essay analyzes the crucial role of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) in the criminal protection of the European Union's financial interests, especially concerning funds related to the Next Generation EU Programme. The establishment of the EPPO has overcome the fragmentation of national repressive actions, proving to be an effective tool against complex cross-border fraud. The analysis highlights the synergy with national authorities, including the Prosecutor general’s Office at the Italian Court of Auditors, enabling coordinated investigations and addressing the issue of the effective recovery of sums misappropriated from the European Union budget.
